Project Description

My project is more of an initiative than an actual physical project where instead of focusing on one idea I intend to have several. I belong to an organization of professional men from accountants to paralegals. I would create a business writing workshop for young black men looking to fund a start-up business. From there I would have them present their ideas to a panel of judges. The judges will choose which 5 to 10 ideas that fit their criterion and then have the young men work with dedicated mentors to help bring their ideas to fruition with the funds from this contest.

How would $50,000 benefit the project

The funds will go towards compensating the business writing consultants, the judges, the mentors, and funding the various business start-ups. The business writing component will take 6 to 8 weeks and will be a group of 4 to 10 dedicated men. The judges will be made of 3 to 5 men that will evaluate each idea on its merit. And the mentors will be depending upon qualified participants be 1 to 10 individuals. The awarded funds will compensate and incentivise everyone involved to contribute 100%.

About the Community

Our community is the black youth community. They are a rich and diverse community that have been under served by mainstream society. The ideas and projects that are screaming to get started but lack the necessary funding are far too many. They unfortunately lack the confidence and representation to go into a bank or lending institution to fund their start-up or inventions. If their was an outlet of individuals that encouraged start-ups and provided the means to get funding support during the growth if the business they would be more likely to showcase their businesses. It's two-fold. One you would be supporting our community of young entrepreneurs we already are looking to support and encouraging new young entrepreneurs to come to us for the same guidance we would be providing to our existing entrepreneurs.
