Health & Wellness
Our great volunteers feed approximately 150 people in our community daily. We serve healthy food to our city’s working poor and homeless. We have been doing this for over a year with great effort, as we have no funding. We rely solely on the people in our community, and have been successful in bringing awareness. People helping people is truly what our organization is about - doing it with love, dignity and respect. Without the dignity we would not be able to achieve a relationship with our city’s working poor and homeless. We want them to know that we are here to help without judgement. When you give with a true heart and supply a purpose to those that do not have one, it creates balance in their lives so that they can regain self-worth and begin to rebuild their lives again.
If The Humanity Project were to be awarded the funds we would renovate the very old kitchen that we use today. We are leasing an old curling club in our downtown core which is accessible to our working poor and homeless. Today, we are fundraising to purchase the building, but are in desperate need of a new industrial stove as we are using a standard household stove to make these fabulous meals. With $50,000 we would have enough to purchase the proper equipment for serving 4500 people monthly. We require a proper vented hood for a restaurant-quality propane stove. We have been given a quote of approximately $25,000 to supply said equipment. With installation and the renovations required to implement this equipment, I would hope that $50,000 would more than cover our request. Anything that might be left over would go directly into feeding our friends.
Moncton, NB is my home and I love it dearly. My mission along with the many volunteers that help daily is to end homelessness in our community. The model of ending homelessness is elusive and we are trying to put together the building blocks so that we can help other communities stop poverty. We live in Canada and there is no need for anyone to go hungry. The Maritimes are a very hardy bunch of folk and understand hard times, that is why The Humanity Project is also building awareness online through Facebook. Visit our Facebook page to learn more about The Humanity Project and see the amazing people that have helped and supported us.
